IVF Cost in Bangalore: A Complete Breakdown of What You Actually Pay For
The quoted price of an IVF cycle in Bangalore and the amount you actually pay are frequently two different numbers. Understanding where the difference comes from is the single most useful thing you can do before signing up for treatment.
Here is the short answer: a single IVF cycle in Bangalore typically costs between Rs. 1,50,000 and Rs. 3,50,000 all in. Advertised prices starting around Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,25,000 usually exclude medication, which alone runs Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.

Why Medication Is the Biggest Variable
Stimulation medication is the component that most commonly causes a quoted price to be exceeded, and it is also the one that varies most between patients.
The dose you need depends on your ovarian reserve. A woman with good AMH and a high antral follicle count may respond well to a lower dose. A woman with diminished ovarian reserve often needs higher doses for longer to recruit an adequate number of follicles, which can push medication costs toward the upper end or beyond.
Recombinant gonadotropins cost substantially more than urinary-derived preparations. Both are used in Indian practice, and your protocol will be chosen on clinical grounds, but the price difference between them is significant.
Ask specifically: is medication included, and if not, what is the realistic range for someone with my AMH and antral follicle count?
The Questions That Prevent Bill Shock
Before committing, get written answers to each of these:
- Does the quoted package include stimulation medication, or is it separate?
- Is ICSI included, or charged additionally if needed on the day?
- Are monitoring scans and blood tests during stimulation included?
- Is the anaesthetist's fee for egg retrieval included?
- What is the cost if the cycle is cancelled before retrieval, and what percentage is refunded?
- Is embryo freezing included for the first year, and what is the annual storage fee afterwards?
- What does a subsequent frozen embryo transfer cost?
- Is there a multi-cycle package, and what are its terms if you conceive on cycle one?
The cancellation question matters more than most people realise. A proportion of cycles are cancelled before egg retrieval due to poor response or risk of hyperstimulation. Knowing the financial consequence in advance avoids a difficult conversation at an already difficult moment.
Cost Per Cycle Versus Cost Per Baby
The honest way to budget for IVF is not per cycle but per outcome.
With a live birth rate of roughly 30 to 40 percent per cycle for a woman under 35, the arithmetic implies that many couples will need more than one cycle. Planning financially for two to three attempts, including frozen embryo transfers, gives a far more realistic picture than budgeting for one.
Frozen embryo transfers are the reason this is less daunting than it sounds. If your first cycle produces surplus good-quality embryos, subsequent attempts cost roughly Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 rather than a full fresh cycle. A single stimulation cycle that yields multiple embryos can therefore support two or three transfer attempts.

Is IVF Covered by Insurance in India?
Historically, most Indian health insurance policies excluded infertility treatment entirely. That is changing, but slowly and inconsistently.
Some insurers now offer infertility coverage as an optional rider or within specific higher-premium plans, often with a waiting period of two to four years and a capped sub-limit. Corporate group health policies at some large employers have begun including fertility benefits, particularly in the technology sector.
Check your policy document under exclusions and under any maternity or wellness rider. If you have corporate group coverage, check with HR specifically, because fertility benefits are sometimes added without broad communication.
Complications arising from IVF, such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome requiring admission, are more commonly covered than the elective treatment itself.
Where Costs Differ Within Bangalore
Clinics in central Bangalore locations such as Indiranagar, Koramangala, and MG Road generally price higher than those in Whitefield, Electronic City, and the outer corridors, reflecting real estate and operating costs rather than clinical quality.
What genuinely justifies a higher price is laboratory quality, embryologist experience, and transparent reporting of live birth rates per cycle started. The embryology laboratory is where IVF succeeds or fails, and it is the least visible part of the service.
Start With a Fertility Evaluation Before Committing to IVF
A substantial proportion of couples who assume they need IVF turn out to need something simpler. Ovulation correction, thyroid treatment, timed intercourse with follicular monitoring, or IUI resolves a meaningful number of cases at a fraction of the cost.
A complete fertility evaluation costs Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 25,000 for both partners and tells you which pathway you actually need.
